The DOstamper stars Thursday Challenge for this week is a color combination:
I LOVE the tropical feel that this combo provides. It really warms my bones from the mid-winter chill. I was intrigued by the "pleated skirt" paper fold that was demonstrated on Splitcoast Stampers (www.splitcoaststampers.com) last week, and I wanted to incorporate it in my card. I originally designed a card with the tropical-like Botanical Gardens bundle. I was just getting ready to glue it down permanently, when I saw Linda Bauwins blog, (www.stampingwithlinda.com) and we had thought of almost the same design! Ugh! I have to be more original! Step outside the box, Angela, and then go down the street! So I played around with the skirt fold a little, and decided if it was mirror imaged, it would look (to me) like ripples on the water at night. With black already used, I was left with Crushed Curry and Melon Mambo. I saw a sunset on a T.V. commercial and thus my design:
The black is from the Botanical Gardens DSP (love the subtle "texture", but the reverse design had Cajun Craze showing and that just would not work, so I covered it up with small bits of Melon Mambo. The sun rays are the negative spaces of the Sunburst Thinlits Die, and the sentiment is from the stamp set Sunburst Sayings. The pearl embellishment was colored with a Melon Mambo marker.
I didn't decorate the inside of the card, but I did manage to decorate the envelope
