Here is a new kind of hop! Our Thursday Challenge is now on (every other) Saturday. Today we are working with the technique called, "Chevron Folding".
Outside
Inside (and envelope flap).
The technique involves cutting (at least) five strips of double sided designer series paper into 1" x 2 1/2" strips, and then folding these on the ends. Three right to left, and two left to right. There are plenty of tutorials out there that can explain the technique much better than I can.
Here is my recipe:
Card stock = Whisper White, Shaded Spruce, Granny Apple Green, Blushing Bride (scrap), Tropical Escape Designer Series Paper
Ink = Momento Black, Basic Black Marker
Stamp set = So Hoppy Together (SAB)
Sizzix dies = Hop Around Framelits (SAB), Tropical Thinlits, Layered Square Framelits
Other = Whisper White medium envelope, Stampin' Dimensionals, googlie eyes (7 mm)
Thanks for stopping, have fun hopping!

The DOstamper Stars Challenge today is a sketch:
I knew that I wanted to make a Punch Art turkey as soon as I saw the "Making Every Day Bright " Stamp set in the Holiday Catalog. In fact, at first glance I saw the penguin light bulb as a turkey face. ( I think that my glasses were smudged.)
Anywho ... The turkey was made by stamping the "clear" bulb as the face, then punched and turned upside down. (Daffodil Delight), Next came the hat. I punched the bulb base in Basic Black, and added a narrow strip for the band. Another bulb base punched in Pumpkin pie (folded corner to corner) became the beak. Then for fun, I grabbed the tail of the fox builder punch in Real Red for the waddle. Next, assorted feathers were stamped and punched in Soft Suede on Soft Suede, Daffodil Delight, Real Red, and Pumpkin Pie card stock. The feet are done in Pumpkin Pie from the Vases Builder punch.(Tulip). The body was punched with the one inch circle where I had "over-stamped" some feathers. Viola!
I was antsy to use my new Detailed Leaves Thinlit Die too, so I put one on the backside of the turkey. In retrospect, it makes him a little busy. Tried rhinestones for the eyes, but pearls looked less gruesome.
Thanks for looking at my blog!

DOstamper Stars Thursday Challenge:
This isn't a packaging product, however it is a way to package with Stampin' Up! products. I found some Pumpkin Pie Chapstick at the store, and wanted to share with my customers. I got this great idea from www.cindyscorner.stampinup.net, and made these up for a "gift with purchase" bonus. Now all I need is for their orders to come before Thanksgiving! Oh well, pumpkin pie is good at Christmas too!
I used:
Card Stock = Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper, Garden Green, Soft Sky, & Early Espresso
Ink = Basic Black
Stamp Set = Cookie-Cutter Christmas
Tools = Stampin' Trimmer, Classic Label Punch, Stampin' Dimensionals, and Snips
Another idea came to me while waiting for the orders:
This IS packaging from Stampin' Up! I realized that I hadn't used the Pizza Boxes, nor the Boxwood wreaths. Needed a quick bonus project for my class, and came up with the project above. Idle hands are my "creativity" workshop :)
I used: Large Letter Framelits. Be Merry Designer Series Paper. Real Red, and Garden Green Card stock. 2017-2019 In Color Bitty Bows and Mini Stampin' Dimensionals.
Thanks for stopping, now go shopping, (at the Stampin' Up online store), just click on Shop Now at the top of this blog.

Time for another DOstamping Stars Thursday Challenge! Here it is:
And this is my interpretation of the sketch!
Sunshine is glowing here in Iowa. First we have had excessive heat, and now it has "cooled" off to the 80's. Still very little rain:(
My stamping budget is being depleated by the water company bill this month, to keep the few plants that are left, ALIVE! But we do have sunshine! And plenty of it! So we should be joyful!
My card is very light and bright! I turned the sketch on its side, and I hope that you won't notice that the background flowers are sort of growing to the right.
Yellow is my least favorite color, but the deep greens seem to give this card a solid base. Stay cool! Fall is approaching! Thanks for looking!
Angela
Ingredients for my card:
Card Stock = Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Whisper White, and Delightful Daisy DSP (Designer Series Paper)
Inks = Old Olive, So Saffron
Stamp Set = Daisy Delight
Tools = Big Shot, (regular size hole punch), Sunshine Wishes Thinlits
Extras = Adhesive, Stampin' Dimensionals, Glitter Enamal Dots, Wink of Stella
Please enjoy the efforts of my fellow stars:

Another COLOR Challenge at DOstampers:
This time of year, I am all about using up my embellishments! I also had this idea to make the pine cone die cuts into three dimensional skinny pine cones, (You know, like the ones that hang down on the clocks that people bring back from Germany?) Well, I just rolled them up and glued them to the twine. Voila! Then the wreath dies, and Wonderful Wreath stamp set were used to give purpose to the effect. Not much room for a sentiment, but I think the subject explains itself. What do you think?
Please visit the blogs of my fellow stars, to see their take on these colors.

The DOstamper challenge this week is a color challenge, but also (sort of) a climate challenge. The colors are more of a traditional Christmas theme, but as I sit here in my studio enduring a heat index of 105 degrees, I am not in the hot cocoa spirit!
No boots on my feet, nor wood burning in the fireplace. I feel like SNOW is a foreign word to me right now, though I am sure to quickly re-learn its meaning by living here in Iowa. My card today, is full of texture. Take a look:
The ornament is the focal point, it was made by using the "double drapery fold" technique. I actually saw a demo video on Frenchie's blog, and copied down the measurements. I then divided all the the numbers by 2 and got a "little ornament". The topper is cut from Silver Foil Paper with the Delicate Ornaments Thinlits die. The bow is made from 1/8th inch Silver Ribbon. The stamp set is a hostess only set called Time of Year. The banner is cut out with the Banners Bunch of Framelits. The added texture comes from the textured impressions embossing folder named Softly Falling. I also used two of the patterns from the designer series paper pack This Christmas Specialty. I also used the Big Shot, Stampin' Dimensionals, Glue Dots, and Snail adhesive.
Here are the creations of my fellow stars:

This week on the DOstamper stars challenge, there is a sketch:
I am caught in transition from one catalog to the next, so the "ovals" that I used, are from the old catalog. I'm sure the newer set would work just nicely, and you get MORE ovals with which to work! Catalog #141706. I opted for a shorter banner, since the sentiment is the focal point. I wanted the background to vie for attention, so I stamped many flowers, added color, punched them, then popped 'em up on dimensionals. I also used the leaf stamp from the set as a background filler.
Check it out:
Colors used = (New "In" colors) Peekaboo Peach, Flirty Flamingo, Sweet Sugarplum, Emerald Envy, plus Basic Black and Daffodil Delight
Card stock = Thick Whisper White, Flirty Flamingo
Stamp sets = Friendly Wishes, and Grateful Bunch
Accessories = Oval dies, Blossom Bunch Punch, Duet Banner Punch, Stampin' Dimensionals, Rhinestone Basic Jewels
Here are the efforts of my fellow STARS:
Hope you have enjoyed our creativity!
